The Tairawhiti Men of the Year Awards Ceremony and Charity Dinner is held in June every year. It is a celebration and acknowledgement of the great men our community. The event is not a competition – every man nominated will receive an award.
This annual event is run by Tauawhi Men’s Centre, a service of Presbyterian Support East Coast’s Family Works. We acknowledge men from all walks of life who have contributed positively to our community. Anyone can nominate a Tairawhiti man who is a mentor or role model in our community, or who inspires and supports positive changes in others. We are looking for men involved in the arts, business and sport industries, as well as those who work in health, education, social services and community development.
The Tauawhi Men’s Centre acknowledges and appreciates the men who are doing great things in our community every day. This event is your chance to nominate the man you admire, a platform to say “thank you” and “we appreciate everything you do”.
What makes a Tairawhiti man one of our Men of the Year?
Five criteria are common to the men we wish to celebrate. An award nominee is someone who:
1. Goes the extra mile
2. Values children, young people and family/whanau
3. Mentors or supports other men
4. Is a role model
5. Invests time and energy into helping others
